Resveratrol (trans-resveratrol) is a
phytoalexin produced naturally by several
plants when under attack by pathogens
such as bacteria or fungi.
In mouse and rat experiments,
anti-cancer, anti-inflammatory, blood-sugar-lowering and
other beneficial cardiovascular effects of resveratrol have
been reported.
